The perfect song to keep us hopeful in these trying times:

Hide me now
Under your wings
Cover me
within your mighty hand

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father you are king over the flood
I will be still and know you are God

Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know his power
In quietness and trust

It's so heartwarming to see Filipinos gathering together in helping the affected Filipinos. Students are spending their holiday (classes are suspended today) to volunteer in packing goods. Working people are Twittering and donating money in the confines of their office spaces (life goes on for us).

I'd like to say thanks to the people from all around the world, who are showing their support and concern for the Philippines. Celebrities like Josh Groban, Alex Wagner-Trugman (AI season 8 top 36), Paolo Coelho, Pete Wentz, Ashton Kutcher, Channing Tatum, Ricky Martin, Alyssa Milano, Demi Lovato are sending tweets on how to donate to Red Cross.

The rainfall was a blessing in disguise. It washed out the politics, the news about the elections, and the talk about corruption. True heroes like our military and ordinary people emerged as the real heroes of the country. Forget about the politicians. What we need is to work together and love our fellow Filipinos. We can do Bayanihan. Let's go Filipinos!

Here is a live list of ways to help out the Typhoon Ondoy victims. We know everyone is eager to help, but may be having difficulty matching your time and means to the relief channels. We hope this can help you find a way to pitch in:

1. Relay critical information on rescue and relief to the appropriate parties. Many of the affected families have limited ways of communicating their needs, so our help to get their message across is needed;
2. Help pack and distribute relief goods. Getting help to affected families as swiftly and efficiently as possible is key. Man-power is sorely needed to get help out to them fast.
3. Donate relief goods or cash. Relief operations are accepting rice, canned goods, water, blankets, and clothes. Cash can also be routed to credible institutions who will allocate them to the required supplies.
4. Share shelter. If you know anyone who lost their home, a temporary place to rest and recover will be much appreciated.
5. Pray. Most of the affected families have been rescued, but still need help to recover and rebuild. There are some who are still waiting for rescue to come. Let’s keep on praying for their safety and well-being.

If everyone of us would extend a helping hand to our fellow-Filipinos in need, recovery will be hard but doable. Again, this is a time where individual contribution is critical to achieve our common goal.
