I ask myself, "Why aren't you there?"
I shake my head at myself when I hear my excuses.

I miss volunteering.
If only I could skip work and volunteer for Task Force Ondoy.

The perfect song to keep us hopeful in these trying times:

Still

Hide me now
Under your wings
Cover me
within your mighty hand

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with you above the storm
Father you are king over the flood
I will be still and know you are God

Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know his power
In quietness and trust

It's so heartwarming to see Filipinos gathering together in helping the affected Filipinos. Students are spending their holiday (classes are suspended today) to volunteer in packing goods. Working people are Twittering and donating money in the confines of their office spaces (life goes on for us).

I'd like to say thanks to the people from all around the world, who are showing their support and concern for the Philippines. Celebrities like Josh Groban, Alex Wagner-Trugman (AI season 8 top 36), Paolo Coelho, Pete Wentz, Ashton Kutcher, Channing Tatum, Ricky Martin, Alyssa Milano, Demi Lovato are sending tweets on how to donate to Red Cross.

The rainfall was a blessing in disguise. It washed out the politics, the news about the elections, and the talk about corruption. True heroes like our military and ordinary people emerged as the real heroes of the country. Forget about the politicians. What we need is to work together and love our fellow Filipinos. We can do Bayanihan. Let's go Filipinos!

Here is a live list of ways to help out the Typhoon Ondoy victims. We know everyone is eager to help, but may be having difficulty matching your time and means to the relief channels. We hope this can help you find a way to pitch in:

1. Relay critical information on rescue and relief to the appropriate parties. Many of the affected families have limited ways of communicating their needs, so our help to get their message across is needed;
2. Help pack and distribute relief goods. Getting help to affected families as swiftly and efficiently as possible is key. Man-power is sorely needed to get help out to them fast.
3. Donate relief goods or cash. Relief operations are accepting rice, canned goods, water, blankets, and clothes. Cash can also be routed to credible institutions who will allocate them to the required supplies.
4. Share shelter. If you know anyone who lost their home, a temporary place to rest and recover will be much appreciated.
5. Pray. Most of the affected families have been rescued, but still need help to recover and rebuild. There are some who are still waiting for rescue to come. Let’s keep on praying for their safety and well-being.

If everyone of us would extend a helping hand to our fellow-Filipinos in need, recovery will be hard but doable. Again, this is a time where individual contribution is critical to achieve our common goal.

This is all we got and we gotta start thinkin’ it

Kris Allen premiered his single over at the radio! Mark your calendars people, his album drops on November 17! :)

Listen to the single here.

Live Like We’re Dying
By Kris Allen (Radio Rip - Z100 World Premiere)

Sometime we fall down and can’t get back up
We’re hiding behind skin that’s too tough
How come we don’t say I love you enough
Till it’s too late, it’s not too late

Our hearts are hungry for a food that won’t come
We could make a feast from these crumbs
And we’re all staring down the barrel of a gun
So if your life flashed before you, what would you wish you would’ve done

Yeah… gotta start
Looking at the hand of the time we’ve been given here
This is all we got and we gotta start thinkin’ it
Every second counts on a clock that’s tickin
Gotta live like we’re dying

We only got 86 400 seconds in a day
To turn it all around or throw it all away
We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em while we got the chance to say,
Gotta live like we’re dying

Well if you plane fell out of the skies
Who would you call with your last goodbyes
Should be so careful who we live out of our lives
So when we long for absolution, there’ll be no one on the line

Yeah… we gotta start lookin’ at the hand of the time we’ve been given here
This all we got and we gotta start thinkin it
Every second count on a clock that’s tickin
Gotta live like we’re dying

We only got 86 400 seconds in a day
to turn it all around or throw it all away
We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em while we got the chance to say,
Gotta live like we’re dying

Like we’re dying oh…
Like we’re dying
Like we’re dying oh…
Like we’re dying

We only got 86 400 seconds in a day
to turn it all around or throw it all away
We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em while we got the chance to say,
Gotta live like we’re dying

You never know a good thing until it’s gone
you never see a crash until its head on
All these people right when we’re dead wrong,
You never know a good thing till it’s gone

We gotta tell ‘em that we love ‘em while we got the chance to say,
Gotta live like we’re dying

saturday secrets

>> Saturday, September 19, 2009

Every Saturday, the ontd_ai peeps have this "saturday secrets" post, where -- it's self explanatory, secrets are spilled every Saturday.

I'm having one today, but of course I'll do it in codes or in the vaguest form possible.

Dream

I dreamed about you. You broke into a smile when you saw me. We were an item, but weren't official. You weren't even courting me. There was something going on between us but it wasn't a big deal for the both of us. We were just plain happy to see each other.

I forgot most of my dream (because I was supposed to write about it two nights ago, but then internet was down in the office and I keep on forgetting to post it). I only vividly remember one scene.

I was sitting on a bench at a park. Your head was on my lap; your face looking up to my face. My hand was on your chest, and you held it with your hand. Slowly, I moved my head closer to your head. It was a motion to kiss.

But we didn't.

There. So much for getting any news from me. :))

If you guys aren't watching Glee, then DUUUUUUUU--- what is wrong with you. :))

Josh Groban was at the third episode of Glee. So imagine my squeefest when Josh announced his appearance and when he finally showed up at the show.

Who... is Josh Groban?

*scoffs*

WHO IS JOSH GROBAN? WHO. IS. JOSH. GROBAN?!?!?!

KILL YOURSELF!

Stop sending me nude photos!

I'm glad the third episode picked up. Mercedes has a powerful voice and I loved her performance of "Bust your windows." She can even dance. Helllooo, I can't dance to save my life.

Will and Emma FTW. Terry, shoo.

Go watch Glee. Tuesdays 10 pm on ETC. Download if you must, every Thursday evening.

1. Ellen is the new 4th judge on Idol! YAAAAHOOOOOOOO. (But I still wanted NPH or Cheno. Ah well, at least they'll be guest judges for the auditions. That's good enough for me.)

2. Michael Buble is my man for the day. The moment the song started playing, I had this silly grin on my face that I couldn't erase (I spot a rhyme!) I can't wait for his album to drop on October!

Haven't Met You Yet
by Michael Buble

I'm not surprised
Not everything lasts.
I've broken my heart so many times
I stopped keeping track.
I talk myself in
I talk myself out
I get all worked up then I let myself down.

I tried so very hard not to lose it,
I came up with a million excuses,
I thought I thought of every possibility.

And I know someday that it’ll all turn out
You’ll make me work so we can work to work it out
And I promise you kid that I’ll give ao much more than I get
I just haven't met you yet

I might have to wait
I’ll never give up
I guess it's half timing
And the other's half’s luck
Wherever you are
Whenever it's right
You’ll come out of nowhere and into my life

And I know that we can be so amazing
And baby your love is gonna change me
And now I can see every possibility

And I know someday that it’ll all turn out
You’ll make me work so we can work to work it out
And I promise you kid that I’ll give ao much more than I get
I just haven't met you yet

They say all’s fair
In love and war
But I won't need to fight it
We’ll get it right
We’ll be united

And I know that we can be so amazing
And being in your life is gonna change me
And now I can see every single possibility

And I know someday that it’ll all turn out
And I’ll work to work it out
Promise you kid I’ll give more than I get
Than I get
Than I get
Than I get

And I know someday that it’ll all turn out
You’ll make me work so we can work to work it out
And I promise you kid that I’ll give ao much more than I get
I just haven't met you yet

I just haven't met you yet
Oh promise you kid
To give so much more than I get

I said love, love, love, love
I just haven't met you yet
Love, love, love, love, love
I Just Haven't Met You Yet

Mom and I are attempting to finish a thousand-piece puzzle. It's a headache-induced activity because the pieces are in hues of green and blue. You really have to look at the nitty gritty details to get the pieces to fit.

Sweeping the floor in that area is prohibited because a piece might find its way to the trash can. No can't do. Every single piece is important to complete the whole picture.
